Now that the JamesFog has finally lifted... May. 17th, 2007 @ 12:15 am
I can start talking about other things. *g*

The last ever issue of the Buffy and Angel magazine dropped through my letterbox yesterday morning. I have to admit that it made me a bit teary eyed when I saw it. It felt like losing the Buffyverse all over again. Like it really was the end of an era. I'm going to miss it. *sigh*

Still...at least we have the Buffy S8 and Angel S6 comics to look forward to. Nah, I can't say I'm convinced either. It's great to have new Buffyverse stuff to discuss, but they're a poor substitute for the real thing.

I miss my shows.

I miss Angel and his hair that sticks straight up.

I miss Buffy...and her stylish yet affordable boots.

I miss the scooby gang...and yes, that even includes Andrew.

I miss Spike. Oh, how I miss Spike.

I'm always reading about how the Buffyverse fandom is slowly dying. With the demise of the Buffy and Angel magazine, you'd be forgiven for thinking that's true. And yet...

Every day there are new people discovering the Buffyverse for the first time.

There are new writers offering fabulous fic.

Seasoned writers continue to entertain us with their stories.

I see meta, icons and graphics on my flist every day.

All of this? Tells me that the Buffyverse isn't even close to dying. It's full of vibrant, talented people who are as near to being done with the Buffyverse as I am. And I'm far, far from being done with it yet.

So...yeah.

I'm off to read fic. :)

Spring Fever Part 3 May. 12th, 2007 @ 12:49 pm
Third stop - JamesFog Dinner with James

There's been so much written about this already (including the wonderful report by [info]sueworld2003 which she's posted in her LJ), so I'm not going to repeat it all by going into great detail here. This is just going to be my own impressions of the evening, including a few snippets of conversation I've remembered that [info]sueworld2003 hasn't written about in her report. Anyone expecting to read any gossip or negative impressions of JM are going to be sadly disappointed. James was exactly as I expected him to be - a genuinely nice guy, who was friendly, relaxed and very much at ease in the company of a group of women he didn't even know. None of us could have asked for anything more. :)

Spring Fever Part 2 May. 10th, 2007 @ 11:52 pm
Second stop - Rich Mix

K and I arrived at the Rich Mix a little after 3pm. We went straight into the ground floor Cafe and joined the lovely ladies from the Bloody Spikeless forum, which included [info]stretfordditto, [info]deedee7daydiary and [info]spikesnn. It was so nice to see some friendly faces, as meeting new people is something that doesn't come easy to me. Before long we were joined by [info]spikereader and the wonderful [info]sueworld2003, who is exactly as you'd expect her to be from her LJ. :)

Spring Fever Part 1 May. 10th, 2007 @ 04:59 pm
First stop - Soho Revue Bar

As [info]spikereader has already posted her report on this, I could just direct you to hers as we were together for most of it. So, as everything (more or less) that happened to [info]spikereader before the gig also happened to me, I won't bore you all by going through it again. :) Suffice to say, it was wonderful to meet up with [info]lmbossy, [info]kazzy_cee and [info]spikereader for a meal and a chat before the gig. And just for the record: [info]spikereader is NOT a quiet person! :D

Collectormania May. 8th, 2007 @ 12:20 pm
I had a great time at Collectormania on Sunday, which I went to with [info]spikereader. I saw lots of you there, and it was wonderful to finally put faces to names. I'll write a proper report later and reply to all of the comments I've received over the weekend. :)

I was pleased to get the chance to say a few words to James when he signed his autograph for me. He told me that he'd had a great time at the dinner on Thursday and that there had been lots of "good conversation", which was good to hear. I did point out that my contribution to the conversation was only small, but that yes, it was good. :) I also passed on a message from K, which he seemed genuinely touched by.

Having my photograph taken with James was something I'd been nervous about (I hate having my picture taken), but was actually a lovely experience. James makes you feel so at ease, and is so warm and soft and friendly. It really was a special experience. :) I almost ran away without having my second picture taken, but got called back, so had to go through it all again. Not complaining here. :D

The Q&A was wonderful! I know there are transcripts for this, so I won't even try to go into detail, but it was so good. Especially the beginning part with Steve! :D

More to come later. Possibly with a few pics. :) No pics of the gigs, though, as I prefer to sit, look and listen rather than snap away. I'm sure other people took plenty! :)

I had dinner with James Marsters! May. 5th, 2007 @ 03:25 pm
Got back from London in the early hours of this morning. Had a fantastic time at all the Spring Fever events, and a wonderful time at the dinner with James. I'm still processing everything that happened, and am still stunned and a little overwhelmed by the fact that my ticket was drawn for the dinner...and that K was able to come with me. I still can't quite believe that I was there! I met some wonderful people, including the brilliant [info]sueworld2003, who I'm sure can remember more of what James had to say than I can. :D

The Union Chapel gig last night was fantastic. James was on fine form and the atmosphere was electric. K and I were at the back of the room, seated next to the sound man. People who could transfer from their wheelchairs or had walking difficulties were allowed to sit in the front couple of rows, but those (like K) who are unable to transfer had to sit at the back. I have to say, though, that the view from there was wonderful. I don't think there was a bad view to be had in the room. And James looked and sounded great! :D I met quite a few people from LJ last night, but I think I was still a bit hung over dazed by it all, so I don't know how much sense they got out of me. LOL!

I'm sure I'll have more to say when I've had a chance to process it all, but one thing I can say right now is that Spring Fever was definitely an event to remember. And who would have thought that instead of running away from James, I'd actually end up having dinner with him? *is stunned*

I still haven't quite come back down to earth yet. :D

You Are Olive Green

You are the most real of all the green shades. You're always true to yourself.
For you, authenticity and honesty are very important... both in others and yourself.
You are grounded and secure. It takes a lot to shake you.
People see you as dependable, probably the most dependable person they know.

James Returns to the Stage

James Marsters will return to his roots and first love in the San Francisco production of the hit play "The Little Dog Laughed" fresh from its Broadway run. James will appear in the production in a limited engagement starting June 13, 2007 and running through September 9, 2007 (he will continue to appear at his previously announced convention appearances as well). The production will take place at the Post Street Theatre in the heart of San Francisco. Ticket details to follow shortly.

"The Little Dog Laughed" by Douglas Carter Beane is a witty, biting look at what could happen if one of Hollywood's hottest leading men decided to come out of the closet! James will play the leading male character of 'Mitchell'.

James is incredibly excited about the opportunity to return to the stage. Joining him will be Julie White who originally created the role of 'Diane' both off-Broadway and on Broadway. The production will be directed by Scott Ellis.

How much would I love to go and see this?
» Fanfic Recs - Post 2
Much later than planned, here is the second of my fanfic rec posts. Better late than never, I hope! :)

Warning: Many of the fics recc'ed here are rated NC-17. That means that they're suitable for adults only. Please don't read unless you're old enough.

All fics are Spike/Buffy unless otherwise stated.

So that's it for part 2. More to come over the next couple of weeks. :)
» Reading
I'm still working on my second fic rec post, which (hopefully) should be up by the end of the week. Having said that, though, I have to admit that I've hardly read any fanfic at all this month. It's not that my interest in Spike or Spuffy is waning (far from it), but I'm finding myself turning more and more to the world of books lately. As much as I love fanfiction, there's nothing quite like curling up with a good book...and I've been doing that a lot over the last month or so. :)

Books I've read in February/March... )

So I'm off to bed to read a few more chapters before I go to sleep. :)

Pick a song from your playlist that starts with each letter of your name. Bonus points for sharing (though who's doling out the points I don't know).

Not got time to share at the moment, but I might do later. :)

So here we go. Picked completely at random...

» Happy 10th Anniversary to BtVS!!
I'm insanely busy today, but I couldn't let the day go by without marking it in some way.

I've seen this done by others on my flist, so I'm going to have a go at it myself.

TEN REASONS WHY I LOVE BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER:

Ten reasons... )

Of course, there are many other reasons why I love BtVS. Joyce, all of S6, FFL, Punk Spike...the list could go on and on.

One of the main reasons to be grateful for BtVS, though, is that it brought me to all of you. Without it, I would never have been able to be part of a fandom that has given so much to me. So for that I am eternally grateful. Thank you!

*raises glass to fandom*
