Date: 2007-08-10 03:27 Subject: Well, that was easy! Security: Public Mood: nostalgic

I've just copied every single one of my LJ entries over to my IJ account, using LJ-Sec. It was so easy! I was expecting it to take much longer than it did, and thought that something was bound to go wrong. But no, it all worked perfectly! The only down side is that it doesn't copy comments over, but at least I now have a complete back-up journal to LJ. I've privatised some of my older entries, and will probably go back and privatise a few more when I have time, but on the whole I'm happy with it. :)

Looking back over my old entries has made me feel so nostalgic. I was so innocent to the ways of fandom and internet life back then...and probably even more open about my life than I am now, believe it or not. I know I'm not as naive as I once was, that's for sure. I'm a very different person to the one I was four? years ago, when I ventured online for the first time, following the end of BtVS. A decision I've never looked back on, even if it has been a bit of a rocky ride at times!

One thing I noticed is that I've just passed my 3 year LJ anniversary. My first post was July 2004. Wow! Time really does fly. I migrated here (LJ) along with some of my long term Buffyverse friends - southernbangel, makd, raelee, cdn_tvaddict, showmewrtr, angelspike69 and cara_leigh9 to name but a few - mainly to keep up with my favourite fanfic authors, but it soon became so much more than that. It makes me sad to see how unsettled it is on LJ at the moment, with so many people moving on to other journal/blogging sites. My only hope is that we don't all spread our wings too wide. I would hate to see this wonderful community we've built here (and it is a wonderful community, in spite of LJ/6A) fall to pieces, never to be repaired. I'd like to think that we all mean more to one another than that. But only time will tell, I suppose. *sigh*

I hope everyone who's going to the Midimeet this weekend has a wonderful time! As you all know, I was meant to be going to this, but circumstances dictated otherwise. It was to have been my first weekend away on my own (ever!) , but because of the complications with K's surgery it wasn't to be. Ah well, never mind. These things happen. :)

I know it's going to be difficult, but I'm sure you're all going to have a fabulous time...even without me being there! ;)

And don't listen to spikereader when she tells you what a quiet person she is - because she really isn't! Heh.

Don't forget to tell us all about it when you get back. I expect to hear every little detail. :D

It looks like everyone who managed to get to Cardiff had a wonderful time. The actor who plays Ianto in Torchwood joined James on stage for a song, and a few of the cast were in the audience. I'm still gutted that I couldn't be there (although I don't regret the decision not to go - it was definitely the right thing to do!), but I'm having a great time reading all about it from those who were. My only consolation is that it wasn't John Barrowman who joined James on stage. I really would have been miffed if I'd missed that. The stuff fantasies dreams are made of! ;)

You do realise I've finally been converted to slash, don't you? *melts*

There's a possibility that we might not be able to go to Cardiff after all. We really want to go, but the flooding and torrential rain along the route might make it an impossibility for us to get there. My husband has just checked the travel news, and the route between Birmingham and Cardiff doesn't look good.

Keep your fingers crossed for us. I'll be gutted if we can't go! :(

I've spent way too much time playing around with my layout tonight. I have to admit I actually found it a lot of fun! During my absence I've been immersing myself in Spuffy fanfic. Practically drowning myself in it, in fact. Rather than allowing myself to wallow in a bucket of self-pity (which would have been *so* easy to do *g*), I've thrown myself head first into the wonderful world that is Spike and Buffy.

I'm slowly easing myself back into fandom life again following my enforced absence due to RL issues. While the issues of my RL still remain, I feel that the time is right for me to try and get some sort of "normality" back into my life again. And that most definitely includes fandom. As crazy as fandom can be at times, it really does help keep me sane! :D

And before I forget, congratulations to the wonderful lmbossy on the birth of her new baby daughter! I can't tell you how good it feels to be able to announce some good news for a change. :D I'm so happy for you, Claire! Can't wait to see the new arrival.
